Germany Vs Argetnina Results: Malaysian Politcal Figure Hitler Comments

After just watching Argentina beat Holland in penalty kicks I was a little bummed. Not because I didn't want Argentina to win but because I hate such big games being decided by penalty kicks.

I also thought about how Germany and Argentina is going to be a great final match. Two power house futbol countries in the finals.  A machine like ruthless Germany and an Argentina team with the best player on the planet and a hunger to win the world cup on their biggest rivals home soil.  Whats not to like?

But being that I am a pretty big history buff  I couldn't help but think about the Germany, Argentina, Nazi connection and how many Nazi's escaped to Argentina during and after World War II because a supportive dictator in Peron.

Insert the scene from X-Men First Class.

After the games end I knew twitter would be going crazy so while thinking about the history of these two counties I was perusing what people were saying.  Then I came across this article.

Malaysian MP not sorry for tweeting 'long live Hitler' after Germany win - Washington Times
Follow us: @washtimes on Twitter

A Malaysian political figure actual tweeted "long live Hitler" and based on his comments he doesn't see why it is such a big deal.

“I don’t know what’s wrong with people sometimes. Hitler is part of history and the German team fought like how he did,” he said. “I think people nowadays should transform their mentality. Whatever I tweet people hit me. They are not hitting me because of Hitler, but because I am Bung Mokhtar.”

No man, they aren't "hitting you" because your Bung Mokhtar. They are hitting you because you are a representative of your government and you are seemingly supporting a man/movement of a dark history in the human race that was responsible for countless numbers of deaths.

When I had thought of the Argentina Germany Nazi connection I was merely thinking of a historical context and how I am maybe one of the few that thinks of history like that still or maybe even knows that connection.  We obviously aren't seeing Nazi symbolism on the pitch, around stadiums, or Nazi politics in the two countries governments.

Well this guy's comments reminded us all of the nazi stigma that exists still  exists for Germany, reminds us all that there are still Nazi supporters out there in the world, and taken away from Germany team that has shown nothing but class so far in this tournament.

So remember, what we may think of as ancient history may still be lingering in the trenches. And maybe Bung was just being a knuckle head and really didn't mean to come across the way he did, but my gut tells me this guy wasn't joking. There are many people out there who will say, tweet, or internally feel exactly what he expressed and that's sad.

In any event I am still looking forward to Sunday. Happy world cup everyone!

Does He Really Want Play For The Cavs Again?

Just this morning it was announce that the Cavs have made a 3 team trade to clear up cap space for a potential Lebron signing.

The Cavaliers traded Sergey Karasev and Jarrett Jack to the Brooklyn Nets and sent Tyler Zeller and a future first-round draft pick to the Boston Celtics. Marcus Thornton also was sent from Brooklyn to Boston.

The move clears enough salary cap space for Cleveland to offer James a max deal and bring him back to his home town team.  The longer he doesn't sign with Miami the more obvious it seems that going home is what he wants.

The Cavaliers weren't very good last year but they do have a lot of young and very talented players.  Having Lebron will immediately make everyone on the roster better and make the Cavs a lock for the playoffs.  Kyrie Irvning, Andrew Wiggins, Tristan Thompson, Anderson Varejao, and Lebron James....that's not a bad lineup and in the Eastern Conference that is a pretty darn good one.

From the outside leaving Miami just doesn't make sense.  Pat Riley has come through on all his promises to Lebron,  is a masterful persuader in recruiting players, and has a championship pedigree.  He will make sure Miami competes for a championship again if Lebron goes back.

What everyone is underestimating is Lebron's heart.  Home is where the heart is.  His family probably wants to go back, he can make a max deal, and have a chance to compete for a title.  And who knows maybe Lebron is happy with two rings and whatever he wins next will just be icing on the cake,  Could be?

Either way the Cavs are going for it and the whole basketball world will be waiting for the decision part II.  All teams and remaining free agents are waiting for this move.

What is happening to Brazil? Das Boot!

The 1st half of the Germany Brazil semi final game has been so suprising I felt compelled to blog about it immediately.  Already Germany has jumped out to a 5-0 lead.  Yes, I said 5-0.  There has been 5 goals in one half of a soccer game.  Incredible.

So far in this world cup Germany has looked solid and clearly been a favorite pick to win the whole tournament.  Combine that with the fact that Brazil is without Naymar and Thiago Silva it wouldn't have been suprising for Germany to be favorites in this game.

but 5-0? Really?

Brazil hasn't even lost s competitive game in their home country since the 1970's and Germany has just walked into the stadium and bombarded the host nation.  5 goals by 5 different players and to make it even worse for Brazil, Klose scored passing Brazil's Renaldo for most goals in the world cup all time.  Klose is now the GOAT of world cup scoring. Wow.

I feel confident in saying that I will never see a barrage of goals in such a big world cup game of two juggernaut nations again in my lifetime.  This is truely a historic moment.  Now I feel better about the US mens soccer team only losing 1-0 against Germany. Tim Howard!

Happy World Cup Everyone!
