Does He Really Want Play For The Cavs Again?

Just this morning it was announce that the Cavs have made a 3 team trade to clear up cap space for a potential Lebron signing.

The Cavaliers traded Sergey Karasev and Jarrett Jack to the Brooklyn Nets and sent Tyler Zeller and a future first-round draft pick to the Boston Celtics. Marcus Thornton also was sent from Brooklyn to Boston.

The move clears enough salary cap space for Cleveland to offer James a max deal and bring him back to his home town team.  The longer he doesn't sign with Miami the more obvious it seems that going home is what he wants.

The Cavaliers weren't very good last year but they do have a lot of young and very talented players.  Having Lebron will immediately make everyone on the roster better and make the Cavs a lock for the playoffs.  Kyrie Irvning, Andrew Wiggins, Tristan Thompson, Anderson Varejao, and Lebron James....that's not a bad lineup and in the Eastern Conference that is a pretty darn good one.

From the outside leaving Miami just doesn't make sense.  Pat Riley has come through on all his promises to Lebron,  is a masterful persuader in recruiting players, and has a championship pedigree.  He will make sure Miami competes for a championship again if Lebron goes back.

What everyone is underestimating is Lebron's heart.  Home is where the heart is.  His family probably wants to go back, he can make a max deal, and have a chance to compete for a title.  And who knows maybe Lebron is happy with two rings and whatever he wins next will just be icing on the cake,  Could be?

Either way the Cavs are going for it and the whole basketball world will be waiting for the decision part II.  All teams and remaining free agents are waiting for this move.

What is happening to Brazil? Das Boot!

The 1st half of the Germany Brazil semi final game has been so suprising I felt compelled to blog about it immediately.  Already Germany has jumped out to a 5-0 lead.  Yes, I said 5-0.  There has been 5 goals in one half of a soccer game.  Incredible.

So far in this world cup Germany has looked solid and clearly been a favorite pick to win the whole tournament.  Combine that with the fact that Brazil is without Naymar and Thiago Silva it wouldn't have been suprising for Germany to be favorites in this game.

but 5-0? Really?

Brazil hasn't even lost s competitive game in their home country since the 1970's and Germany has just walked into the stadium and bombarded the host nation.  5 goals by 5 different players and to make it even worse for Brazil, Klose scored passing Brazil's Renaldo for most goals in the world cup all time.  Klose is now the GOAT of world cup scoring. Wow.

I feel confident in saying that I will never see a barrage of goals in such a big world cup game of two juggernaut nations again in my lifetime.  This is truely a historic moment.  Now I feel better about the US mens soccer team only losing 1-0 against Germany. Tim Howard!

Happy World Cup Everyone!

I'll Streak for Cash

Recently I joined ESPN's fantasy game streak for the cash.  It's pretty simple. Pick games correctly, go on long streaks, and you'll get a chance to win some money.

The trick is not all games are black and white one team beats another.  Rather you will have to pick a over under score, tie, 1st half stat, etc.  There are a lot of choices. Also, you can not pick on another game until the current game you have picked finishes.

With the World Cup in action, picking the games on ESPN has been even more fun than I expected and equally challenging.  I'm quickly realizing how hard it is to predict these World Cup games.

For example in today's World Cup match between Netherlands and Australia the choices were Australia Win, Lose by 1, or tie  VS. Netherlands win by 2+.  I took the Netherlands by two goals option.  Its early  right now but my choice isn't looking to good.  Australia came to play.

Revenge is Sweet: Spurs win NBA Chamiponship

Oh how sweet revenge is.  The San Antonio Spurs got their revenge last night by defeating the Miami Heat 4 games to 1 and winning their 5 Championship.

This Championship is more about what the Spurs did right than what the Heat did wrong.  Was there any question the Spurs weren't going to bounce back this year after the heartbreaking Game 6 loss last NBA Finals?  Maybe so, but the Spurs looked like a team focused on making up for their shortcomings last year. The Spurs played with vigor, purpose, effort, and selfishness.  A true TEAM EFFORT.

There are so many players that contributed to the winning side.  Patty Mills's energy off the bench and 3 point shooting, Manu Ginobli's playmaking 3's. Tim Duncan's protecting the rim and timely offense, Marco Blenelli's off the bench scoring, Boris Diaw's passing and match-up problems, Danny Green's defense on Wade and timely 3's, Thigo Splitter's passing from the post and blocking shots,  Tony Parker's floaters in the paint, and who can forget Kawhi Leonard's performances? It was refreshing to watch a team play that way.

In game 4 every player for the Spurs played and scored. What!

For the Tim Duncan, Greg Popovich, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobli, this Championship has further cemented their legendary status.

Tim Duncan has now one a title in 3 different decades and along the way defeated many of the greats in each era.  He has now defeated Lebron James twice in the finals, battled Karl Malone, Shaq, and Dirk Nowitzki, and set multiple records along the way.

Tim Duncan is the greatest power forward ever and whether you consider him a center or power forward his greatness over the last 17 years has been amazing to watch.

While the Spurs will sit back and enjoy the win for the Heat it is a completely different story.  Bosh didn't look like a member of the big 3, Wade looks like he has nothing left in the tank, and Lebron looks dissapointed that he was the only one that showed up.

In their postgame press conference Lebron didn't sound too sure that he would be back with the Hear next year and I don't blame him.  He has been to the finals 4 years in row but only went .500.  He probably sees all the teams in the West and sees that even the 8 seed Dallas Mavericks may have more talent and depth than his heat. Their will be many questions this summer regarding the Heat Roster.

Congrats to the Spurs for winning the championship and I hope Tim Duncan still decides to play a few more years.

Heat vs.Spurs:Game 4

What a day for sports. After watching the opening round of the US Open and getting my fix of World Cup soccer I'm warmed up and ready for game 4 of the NBA Finals.

Just who is going to come out with a victory in game 4?  With the way these teams are playing it is anyone's guess.

Lebron James has been stellar, The Spurs role players have been huge, and the intensity levels at which these teams have played has been off the charts.

But where has Wade gone? Ginobli and Duncan are much older but still Wade looks like the grey haired baller on the court. The days of flash are gone.  But that's for another blog.

In the end these last NBA Finals games will come down to 3 simple things.  Coaching adjustments, making shots, and who wants it more. These games are hard to predict but I don't think Miami loses two games in a row on their home floor.  Miami takes this one 101-97.
